Scribes assaulted by angry villagers

Mediapersons on Saturday were heckled with by the villagers as an outburst of anger over constant reportage of the incident.

The crew members, stationed in and around the village, were targeted for round -the-clock coverage of the incident and were chased nearly two-kilometre away from the village. Shockingly, the media persons were forced to evacuate  the village by women attackers.

The incident took place at around 9 am when a group of women asked the media persons to leave the village. Within a short span, they forced the crews to wind-up their cameras, vans and other means of reporting. In no time, media persons were heckled with and forced to run away from the vicinity of the victims’ house. When the <g data-gr-id="20">mediapersons</g> stationed themselves nearly 100 metres away from the village, the women group again objected. The <g data-gr-id="24">women,</g> lashed out with lathis, sticks, stones, etc in which a few reporters from noted TV channels suffered minor injuries.

Outer Broadcast (OB) vans were damaged as the mob pelted stones over the vehicles. Reports of damaging cameras and other media vehicles also came along with stone-pelting and brick-bating for over 15 minutes. The policemen, deployed in the area, rescued the scribes and helped them to shift their base almost two-kilometre away. Later, <g data-gr-id="19">mediapersons</g> were not allowed to enter the village during the visit of Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi.
