Scorching heat fails to dampen TMC candidates’ spirits

Braving the scorching heat Trinamool Congress candidates from various Assembly constituencies conducted their election campaigns on Sunday.

Chiranjit Chakraborty the sitting MLA from Barasat and a veteran actor is contesting the elections from the same seat for the second term. Despite the increasing level of discomfort caused by excessive heat Chakraborty on Sunday put up a glittering road show along the lanes and bylanes of the Barasat and witnessed overwhelming response from the people who gathered by the road side to see a glimpse of their matinee idol.

Chakraborty was on a tourer jeep along with some of his party workers when the rally started from the Hatkhola area in Barasat on Sunday morning. People from all the age groups were seen standing on the balcony of their residential apartments on both side of the road and waved their hands to Chakraborty who readily responded with waving hands and a smiling face.

After starting the rally from the Hathkhola it travelled around three and half kilometer covering all the major points on Barasat town areas. The rally travelled through Barasat municipality areas and took to the KNC road and reached to Haritala more. People congregated at Haritala More to see the rally. The rally finally ended at Colony more on Krishnanagar road. Chakraborty was happy to see that there was tremendous enthusiasm among the youngsters who believe that many development works were taken place in last five years.

On the other hand some heavyweight Trinamul Congress leaders like Aroop Biswas, Rabindranath Bhattacharya also conducted election rally in their respective Assembly constituencies. Biswas who is contesting the elections from Tollygunge took out a huge rally on Sunday morning. He along with his party men carried out a door to door campaign seeking votes on the basis of the development works which were initiated by him in Tollygunge area. Huge nimber of people took part in the rally. Rabindranath Bhattacharya also took out an election at his Assembly constituencies in Singur. He has also been venturing on various development works that he had carried out throughout his constituencies in last five years. As Bhattacharya is a very popular leader, the people from all walks of life came to talk to their candidate. The heat wave that was sweeping through the districts of South Bengal failed to dampen the spirit of these contestants as they reached out the people to convince them to cast their votes in their favour.
