Schools do not follow nursery admission rules: parents

Despite the declaration by Directorate of Education (DE) that parents nned not buy the prospectus of any school, Delhi schools are forcing parents to buy prospectus costing between Rs 100 and Rs 500 along with the nursery admission forms.

According to a parent, Venktor Global School is selling its admission form without the prospectus for a special price of Rs 500. But Kiran Walia, education minister had earlier announced that the cost of the nursery admission form would be Rs 25. Affected parents are also pointing fingers towards Aadarsh World School (selling the form along with prospectus worth Rs 100), Modern Convent School (sells the prospectus, which cost Rs 500, along with the form),  Sam International School (sells forms with prospectus, which cost Rs 400), Delhi International School (sells the form for Rs 100) and Hansraj Model School, which is asking for Rs 275 for the forms and prospectus. Some parents say that schools are also seeking money in the name of processing fees.

When contacted, Walia  reiterated that government will ensure that schools follow the guidelines. Usha Ram, principal, Laxman Public School, said, ‘There should be investigation and schools that doesn’t follow rules should be punished.’
