School van with kids falls into drain, none hurt

A major tragedy was averted when a private school van carrying eight children allegedly fell into an open drain in North Delhi’s Burari area on Tuesday morning. Luckily, all the occupants of the van escaped unhurt, police said.

According to police, the vehicle fell in the drain after allegedly losing control. As the drain was only 3-feet deep, the children and the driver escaped unhurt. The driver, Vishal, allegedly fled the spot. However, locals rushed to help when the children began to scream.

One of the eye witnesses informed the police.

A senior police official said that the school van was going to Guru Harkrishan public school in Burari. The eight children who were present in the school van were students of classes III, V and VI. The incident occurred near Harit Vihar Colony.

Officials said that Vishal helped the children in getting out of the drain. But when angry locals cornered him, he allegedly ran away.

The school van was taken into possession, police said.
