School van overturns, kids injured; driver held

A privately plying van ferrying school children, overturned early morning on Friday. The incident happened in North-west Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar. The injured children were rushed to the nearest hospital. All of them are safe with minor injuries. The cops later arrested the driver who fled from the spot initially.

In what could have been a tragic incident a privately owned school van overturned  which was full of school children at around 7 am. Fortunately, the children escaped with minor injuries. The incident happened when allegedly the driver was over-speeding and failed to control the van which tumbled down the roadside. The children were rushed to Babu Jagjiwan Ram hospital. The driver has been booked under relevant sections.

A similar incident was reported some days ago from Burari where a school van fell in a drain. No student was reportedly injured.

After the incident, a crackdown on such vehicles plying was made by traffic Burari circle. A total of 42 vans carrying school children and passengers have been prosecuted in the Burari Circle. In the special drive, prosection was done on R C violation and permit violation. Out of these 42 vans, 26 have been impounded and kept in various police stations. 25 challans were also made on Friday. Cops said that the drive will continue for a few days.
