School teacher accused of molestation arrested

Hooghly district police have arrested a school teacher on the charges of molesting a student of class four from a primary school in the Brahmanpara area in Haripal.

Police said that the accused, Victor Kundu, a teacher from the Brahmanpara Primary School had on several occasions detained a girl beyond the school hours and molested her.  The matter came to light on Friday when the girl informed her family members.  The victim had told her parents that Victor used to force her to stay back at school after the classes and molested her.  He had also threatened her to not make the incident public or she would be face dire consequences. After coming to know about the incident her parents registered a compliant with the local police station against the accused.

The local residents put up a demonstration in front of the school and locked the school.
