SC dismisses Sanjay Dutt’s plea against conviction

Film actor Sanjay Dutt will have to spend another three and half years behind bars. Currently serving sentence in Mumbai serial bomb blasts case for possessing illegal arms in Pune’s Yerawada Jail, Dutt on Tuesday exhausted his last legal remedy - curative petition, which was dismissed by the Supreme Court.

Dutt had sought review of the judgement in which he was directed to undergo five years of sentence. Now, with all legal remedies exhausted, he will have to undergo the remaining sentence.
A four-judge bench dismissed Dutt’s  petition, saying that no case has been made out for it to review its decision in which the apex court had upheld the conviction of Dutt by the trial court.
