Saraswati puja committees in city plan to come up with tallest idols

Drawing inspiration from Deshapriya Park’s tallest Durga idol, which grabbed the attention of maximum people, several clubs in the city are now planning to come up with tallest Saraswati idol this time.

Rajarhat Chandra Uday Sangha is organising their Swarasawti Puja in which they will come up with a 40- feet idol and Hooghly Jangipara is also coming up with some new attractions for the visitors. Bankura Taldanga United Club is also making their idol which will be around 25-feet tall. The huge Saraswati idol will have four hands instead of two.

Taking lesson from the Deshapriya Park incident, puja organisers and the district administration is taking various initiatives to check any untoward incidents.

The organizers believe that their pandals will attract huge number of visitors from various parts of the state.

The idol makers are toiling hard to give final touches to the idols.

Puja organisers said that the idol will be made of various materials including clay and plaster of paris, whereas pandals will be made up of plywood.

The districts administration are leaving no stone unturned to ensure safety of panadal hoppers.

They will hold meeting with the puja organisers giving them instructions about safety measures at puja panadal.

Incidentally, it may be mentioned that Kolkata Police had to restrict the entry of visitors inside the Deshapriya Park puja panadal after there was a stampede like situation.

The puja attracted visitors from all the parts of the state as the organisers had campaigned the idol as the world’s tallest Durga.

Saraswati puja organisers at Rajarhat said they were taking all pretty cautionary measures to handle the crowd.
