Saradha scam: SC turns down petition for Court-monitored probe

Noting that there was no allegation by the applicant that the CBI was not conducting the probe, the Supreme Court bench of Justice TS Thakur declined the plea. Earlier, concerned over the ‘malicious’ intention of ‘BJP-CBI nexus’ for political vendetta, TMC as well as the state government on January 19 have filed two separate petitions before the apex court requesting to monitor the Saradha ponzi scam.

TMC party general secretary Mahua Moitra’s has filed the petition, which was placed by the former Additional Solicitor General Vivek Tanka on behalf of the party. Moitra’s petition was followed by the state government’s petition, which was filed by the senior Congress leader and former law minister Kapil Sibal.

In the petition, Moitra has raised several issues including alleged link between the CBI and the BJP in terms of selective leaks from the investigating agency to the ruling party. She claimed in the petition, “Even before the CBI’s action and decisions, BJP leaders are giving reactions on Saradha probe developments and making it public.” “How this can happened,” she questioned.
