Saradha: CBI officers hold review meeting

Officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) held a review meeting on its progress in to the probe of Saradha Group chit fund scam.

Senior officers of CBI including the investigating officer of the scam went to Delhi to attend the meeting held on Friday.

It may be mentioned that the central investigation agency had taken up the case in May 2014.
The Supreme Court had ordered the CBI probe in to the incident.

The investigating agency had arrested several people including some “influential” ones to interrogate them in this connection.

Most of them were granted bail and the CBI had submitted charge-sheets
and supplementary charge sheets in the courts in Bengal in connection with
the scam.

The agency is yet to come to the conclusion of its probe even after two and half years after it was handed it over to them.

As a result, senior officers of the CBI held a review meeting to assess the progress of the probe.
The investigating officers have filed their report on the progress before
their senior officers in Friday’s meeting.

It is learnt that the future course of action has also been chalked out in Friday’s meeting.
