Sanjay Singh dismisses reports of his joining BJP: Congress

‘Sanjay Singh rang me up to say that the reports are planted’, party general secretary Madhusudan Mistry told reporters.

Mistry’s remarks came on a day when reports had it that Singh, MP from Sultanpur, could soon join BJP and is likely to be made the party candidate against Rahul Gandhi in adjoining Amethi Lok Sabha constituency.

Adding fuel to rumours about his growing proximity to BJP, Singh had on Tuesday shared dais with several leaders of the party during his birthday function here but preferred to play his cards close to his chest.

Asked at that time whether he will join BJP and contest from Amethi on its ticket, Singh did not scotch rumours in this regard merely saying the list of candidates would clear the matter.

‘I have not quit politics. Everything will be clear once the list of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls are released by political parties,’ the Congress member of parliament from Sultanpur had said.
