Sanjay Gandhi hospital’s guard rapes girl on pretext of marriage, arrested
A 22-year-old bouncer posted at the Sanjay Gandhi hospital was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an 18-year-old girl on the pretext of marriage at Outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri on Tuesday.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Virendra was arrested on Tuesday itself and consequently sent to the judicial custody. Police said that Virendra was married and was living with his family in South-west Delhi’s Nangloi area and had been posted at the hospital a couple of months back. A senior police official said that the victim, an 18-year-old girl, told the police that she used to regularly visit the hospital for her treatment and that is how she came in touch with the accused.
Police further said that once the two became friends, Virendra allegedly proposed marriage to the girl and promised to tie the knot with her. The official added that the girl told the police that: “However, Virendra kept on bringing up the topic of marriage and then developed intimate relationship with me, promising to marry me but later I found out that he was already married.”
The girl then approached the local police and filed a complaint at the Mangolpuri police station. “Based on the girl’s statement, an FIR under Section 376 (Punishment for rape) was registered at the police station. We arrested the accused that very day and sent him to judicial custody. Further investigations in the matter is on,” said the senior police official.
In May this year, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly confined and raped inside a changing room by a hospital employee at the Sanjay Gandhi hospital in Outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area.
According to the police, Manjeet, who was working at the government hospital as a nursing orderly was arrested from the spot. Police said that in a statement to the police, the minor girl alleged that she was sleeping on the couch in the ward where her brother was admitted, when Manjeet came to the room and allegedly dragged her to the changing room.
