Sand mafia attempts to mow down cop

Sand mafia attempted to kill a traffic constable on Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida area on Friday morning, police said. The cop suffered grievous injuries and was admitted to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida. He was shifted to District Hospital in Noida after his condition deteriorated. 

Police said the incident was reported around 6 pm near zero-point in Jewar area. After getting information, police and rescue team of Jaypee, a company which ensures upkeep and maintenance of the entire 165-kilometre long carriageway, reached the spot and found the cop Satyender lying in a pool of blood. He was admitted at Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida but was <g data-gr-id="37">refereed</g> to District Hospital in Noida after deteriorating his condition. During initial investigation, police have suspected the role of sand mafia in the incident. Police claimed that the traffic constable was hit by a sand loaded <g data-gr-id="38">dumper</g>. Police said the cop had attempted to stop the dumper for checking, but was targeted by the errant driver. “The driver attempted to kill the cop as he was asked to stop. The cop came under the wheels. We have registered a case and are trying to identify the accused driver,” said a police official.
