Sanaullah dies, body sent back to Pakistan

Sanaullah Ranjay, the Pakistani national serving life term in Jammu jail, died in a Chandigarh hospital on Thursday. He was attacked last week inside the jail following the brutal killing of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in Kot Lakhpat prison in Pakistan. A special plane with Sanaullah’s body took off from Chandigarh for Pakistan on Thursday evening.

India sidestepped Pakistan’s demand for an international probe. Sanaullah, who had been hospitalised at Chandigarh’s PGIMER hospital after being attacked in  Kot Bhalwal jail on 3 May, died on Thursday following multiple organ failure, doctors said.
