Salman was in Sri Lanka for a charity event: Jacqueline

Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, a former Miss Sri Lanka, has defended her ‘Kick’ co-star Salman Khan’s recent visit to the island nation, saying the superstar was there for a charity event and not for any political campaign.

Salman, 49, came under fire from political parties in Tamil Nadu for allegedly campaigning in support of former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakasa during elections last month. “The intention was very clear from our side. We were there to promote and conduct eye camps on behalf of Being Human. Salman has been doing eye camps in Sri Lanka and we always wanted to go there. But we had less time so the event was not as successful as we thought it would be. Politics was not in the picture at all,” Jacqueline told PTI. The ‘Roy’ actress feels the whole issue was blown out of proportion as the eye campaign happened during the election period.
