Sachin is special to me: Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly, one of India’s most succesful captains, said on Sunday that Sachin Tendulkar was special to him from the very beginning of his career. Colleagues for 14 years, Ganguly said that Sachin was the best captain he every played for. ‘However his decision to step down from ODI cricket at this point of time is the right one’, said Ganguly.
‘When you are young, it is important that your captain has faith in you. It was an honour captaining him later and what he has done for Indian cricket is incredible.I wish him a great future’, Ganguly said in a televised interview on Sunday.
On the master blaster’s best knock, Ganguly said that he felt that Sachin’s ton at Perth in 1992 was the finest to his eyes. ‘The pitch was fast and bouncy. It was a young Sachin who got an effortless 100’, said Ganguly, .
Ganguly also recalled one incident when Tendulkar his captain was ‘angry’ with his performance and scolded him. ‘We ran for one hour the next morning. Sachin, the captain just didnt stop running. Im a great fan of Tendulkar’s footwork and his running between wickets was very quick’, recalled Sourav.
