Sabuj Sathi benefactor to visit all districts

Tirtha Roy, a class XII student of Sonaullah High School is going to visit all the districts in the state on a bicycle which he got under the Sabuj Sathi project.

Roy also proposes to see Mamata Banerjee during his visit to the city and thank her for her initiative.

The state government has so far distributed 25 lakh bicycles under Sabuj Sathi project. The cycles have been distributed among the students of state run, sponsored and aided schools.

The idea was initiated by Mamata Banerjee and was announced by Amit Mitra in his 2015 budget speech. The project has become immensely popular among students. Banerjee has designed the logo of the project which has been embossed on the cycle.

Roy wants to see people, their food habit, occupation and the kind of lives they lead in different parts of the state and take their photographs and document them.

He proposes to write a book on the matter. He will also prepare a route map. He has already covered Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts. He will be visiting to Darjeeling and South and North Dinajpur soon.

Roy would meet the District Magistrates and the Superintendents of Police and take their signature. He will request the officers in charge of police stations to allow him to stay the night in the thanas.

Roy who is an orphan is being brought up by his uncle. He lost his father at the age of one and subsequently his mother.

The uncle has given him the money. This shows how Sabuj sathi project has become popular among the students.
