Russia’s Bollywood love

The Bollywood Film Festival is scheduled to  take place in Russia from November 30 to December 7 at Cinema park cinemaplex in 20 Russian cities with support of the Embassy of India in Russia, the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation and the Indian Films and All Media companies.

JD Institute of Fashion Technology is the fashion partner of the Bollywood Fest Russia in which the designers of JD Institute will showcase a fashion show on the theme ‘Romance Rising’. The show will take place on the November 30 within the frame of Bollywood Fest Russia which aims at examining the interconnected worlds of Russia and India. It is bestowed on socio-cultural, chronological and theoretical readings of fashion, covering a range right from the historical costumes of Mughal  - E - Azam to the urban chic costumes worn today.

The fashion show will explore the continuing love for films Awaara, Ajooba, Bobby, Disco Dancer etc. This is a celebration to the never ending romance between India and Russia.

Anna Gutovskaya, Director Bollywood Fest Russia says,”JD Institute is the only fashion college who has given maximum fashion designers to Bollywood Industry like Rocky.S, Falguni & Shane,Varoin Marwah, etc. I am really excited to see the young designers who will be representing Indian fashion here in Russia. Getting associated with JD Institute of Fashion technology is an initiative to bridge the gap between the two countries.”

Rc Dalal, Executive Director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology says ,”Russians have always loved Indian cinema. Bollywood Fest Russia shows the amount of love the film industry of India has gained. It will set new standards, a stage for the Indian Film Industry and Indian Designers to explore new opportunities and set individual industries to the next level. Getting associated with Bollywood Festival Russia is a step closer towards my vision, taking Indian fashion to different parts of the world. I thank Indian embassy for the support and making this film festival possible.”

The program of the festival includes popular movies distributed in recent years among which is Fan, Not Kidnapped Bride, My XXL Bride, Madly in Love with soundtrack written by Oscar's and the Golden Globe winner A.R Rahman. During the closing ceremony of the festival In Moscow to the audience will be presented the premiere of the drama Sultan - the sixth most high Indian grossing film outside India.

Besides Moscow, the Festival will take place in the following cities: St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Ufa, Krasnoyarsk, Perm, Volgograd, Voronezh, Saratov, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Kaliningrad, Stavropol, Belgorod, Surgut, Vologda.

Bollywood celebrities to attend the festival include Harshvardhan Rane, Sanam Teri Kasam fame and Amit Sadh who will present Sultan at the closing ceremony  for Russian premiere at the Festival. Ayushmann Khurrana is also expected to present his movie My big fat bride.
