Rs rebounds by 27 paise to 61.22 against $

Rupee came off from its five-month low, bouncing back by 27 paise to close at 61.22 against the Greenback following fresh dollar selling by exporters and some banks and sustained capital inflows.

However, the market ignored fall in local equities and better dollar overseas. At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the local unit resumed strong at 61.37 a dollar from previous close of 61.49 and moved in a wide range of 61.21 and 61.55 before finishing at 61.22, showing a rise of 27 paise or 0.44 pct. On Wednesday, it had slumped by 65 paise of 1.07 pct to end at five month low. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex on Thursday closed further down by 76.26 points or 0.30 perĀ  cent in a volatile session.
