Rs 90L daylight heist: Three arrested

Delhi Police Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested three persons in connection with a daylight robbery of Rs 90 lakh at Paschim Vihar area.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said the accused have been identified as Nitin Sood (27), Sandeep (28) and Brijesh (26). The police have recovered Rs 28.25 lakh and two gold chains from their possession. The car, which was used in robbery, was also seized.

The incident took place on June 29 when two employees of Shagun Jewellers were going to Corporation Bank on a motorcycle to deposit Rs 90 lakh. When they reached near JK Apartment area, a Santro car forcefully stopped them and snatched away the bag containing Rs 90 lakh cash.
Acting on a tip-off that the three accused will assemble near Janak Cinema in Janakpuri, the police team raided the area and arrested them.

During the interrogation, the accused confessed their involvement in the robbery and it was revealed that the conspiracy was hatched by Neeraj and Deepak, who were ex-employees of the jewellery showroom. Neeraj used to work as a driver and Deepak was a salesman. “Neeraj had criminal antecedents as he was involved in cases of attempt to murder and robbery. They observed that there is a heavy cash movement everyday from the showroom to bank. On this, they roped in Sandeep, Nitin and Brijesh to give shape to their nefarious goal. Monu was roped in as he was previously involved in four criminal cases,” Yadav said.
