RPF jawans to be deployed in last Metro

In a bid to beef up security arrangements for the women commuting in the last Metro, the metro railway officials have decided to deploy two RPF jawan in each compartment.

The Metro Railway General Manager A K Kappor said that there will be two RPF jawans in each compartment of Metro travelling between Kavi Subhas and Dum Dum. The decision was taken after the railway officials had received a number of complaints relating to the harassment of women passengers travelling in the last Metro.

A senior official of the Metro railway said that following the railway budget which laid an emphasis on the security of women passengers, a circular was delivered to the Metro Railway Bhavan asking the officials to take necessary steps to strengthen the security in the trains and metro stations.

Senior metro railway officials along with the general manager Kapoor already visited the Metro stations to take a stock of the security arrangements. 

He talked to the Metro employees and passengers at Rabindra Sarovar Metro station and inquired about whether the commuters were facing any problems.

Many women passengers who travel in the last Metro trains between Kavi Subhash and Dum Dum often complain about harassment. Keeping this in view the Railways has decided to deploy two RPF jawans in each compartment to prevent untoward incidents.
