Rohit’s blistering knock sinks KXIP

Captain Rohit Sharma smashed a blistering 79* off 39 balls to power Mumbai Indians to a thrilling forur-run victory over Kings XI Punjab at Wankhede Stadium on Monday. Chasing 175 for victory, KXIP could muster 170 after a disciplined performance by MI bowlers led by Harbhajan Singh (3/14). Barring David Miller (56) and David Hussey (34), none of the other KXIP batsmen lived up to the challenge. Earlier, Sharma struck six sixes and six fours in his blistering knock to take MI from 43 for two in the eighth over to a big score. The other significant contributions for MI came from Dwayne Smith (33), Dinesh Kartik (25) and Kieron Pollard (20 not out). Sharma put on 43 runs for the third wicket with Smith and an 88 runs with Pollard for the unfinished fourth wicket. He hit three sixes and two fours in the final over bowled by KXIP captain Hussey which went for 27 runs.
