Robbers thrash man for four hours; decamp with cash, car

A 35-year-old man was robbed of cash and his Endeavour car at a gunpoint in South Delhi’s Mahipalpur area on late Monday. For almost four hours the robbers drove the car in the national Capital and were thrashing the owner but none of the cops patrolling in the night noticed.

The incident took place when Jitender Negi, a resident of Vasant Kunj area was returning home in his car from Mahipalpur. He had gone to meet his friends. In the mid-way, a speeding car hit his car from behind and later overtook his car to instruct him to park the car at the roadside.

When Negi stopped the car, three occupants of the other car asked him to get down. They pointed a pistol at him and snatched the keys of his car. The perpetrators forcibly sat inside his car and thrashed him. While beating him, the accused persons were driving the car on the Delhi roads for almost four hours.

It is important to mention that this is the same route where IT executive Jigisha Ghosh was robbed and murdered. The  incident happened few hours after the city court convicted and punished Jigisha’s killer.

The robbers snatched the ATM and asked the pin number before withdrawing around Rs 1 lakh from different ATMs in South Delhi. They also robbed the gold chain he was wearing. Further, they pushed him out of the running car near Sadiq Nagar.  A case has been registered and CCTV cameras of the area and ATM booths are being looked at, police said. Meanwhile, Negi is being treated at the hospital.
