Robbers attack elderly woman, decamp with Rs 50K

A group of five unidentified men allegedly robbed an elderly woman of Rs 50,000 and some jewellery at gunpoint in the Nangla Chamaru area of Noida. They also attacked the victim with iron rods when she tried to resist them, police said.

According to the police, the incident took place in the wee hours of Sunday, when the victim, Ramvati (65), who stays in the home alone, was sleeping. Some unidentified assailants allegedly barged into her house through a window. 

“They held Ramvati hostage and tied her hands with a rope before decamping with the booty. All burglars attacked on Ramvati with iron rods when she tried to resist the robbery,” said a senior police official.

A case of robbery has been filed against the five accused.

“The police are investigating the case and will nab the accused soon. The victim is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital. Doctors said she has received internal and head injuries,” said a police official investigating the case.
