Road rage in Noida leaves woman with blind eye, two arrested

In a case of road rage, two car-borne men attacked a 48-year-old woman, which left her with a blind eye, after she objected to their car hitting some children playing in Sector 30 area. The duo has been arrested, police said.

The woman told the police that the two men were drunk. They allegedly called four of their accomplices and had an altercation with the woman and her family members. The accused, in a fit of rage, hit the woman in the face, damaging her left eye. 

The victim, Urmila, is admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital in New Delhi. The police said the accused were identified as Sachin (22), a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase- 3 in Delhi, and Sumit (19) of Sector 25 in Noida. 

According to the police, the duo has been booked under Sections of 279, 338, 147 and 326 of the IPC. The police are interrogating the two to identify their other accomplices.

According to the police, the incident took place around 6 pm on Wednesday when the accused persons’ car hit a motorbike and then the children playing in Sector 30.

Complainant Vijay Lakshmi told the police that when she and her family protested against the incident and threatened the two men of calling the police, they called their four accomplices and thrashed her and her family members. They also hit her mother-in-law Urmila’s face, leaving her with a blind eye.

By the time a PCR call was made, one of the two prime accused managed to flee, while the other was caught by the public. The police managed to arrested the other accused later. 

A police official said Urmila was admitted to the District Hospital, from where she was referred to the RML hospital.
