Road mishap victim’s kin gets Rs 13.64 lakh compensation

The family of a 33-year-old man, killed in a road mishap involving a rashly-driven car, has been awarded Rs 13.64 lakh as compensation by a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT).

MACT Presiding Officer Dinesh Bhatt ordered Reliance General Insurance Company Limited, with which the offending vehicle was insured, to pay the sum.

‘The insurance company shall pay the compensation of Rs 13,64,144 within one month to the family of deceased Mohan Lal,’ the judge said.

The tribunal awarded the compensation on a petition filed by the parents, widow and children of late Mohan Lal, who worked with a construction company. Mohan’s wife had told the tribunal that he died after a rashly-driven car hit his scooter on 28 June 2011 near Miranda College.
