Rivals kill youth in Khardah

A youth, who was involved in anti-social activities, was killed by his rivals at Khardah in North 24-Parganas late night on Sunday.

Police said the victim Bhola Nayek (30) had come out of correctional home around 6 months ago. Initially after coming out of the correctional home, he had joined a factory to earn livelihood for his family but he had many rivals as he was involved with different anti-social activities.

The victim’s wife told the police that Nayek had gone to a local shop after returning from his work on Sunday night. She got worried when he didn’t return even after an hour and went out to look for him. While searching for the victim, she found some people gathered around something at a place. She later found out that the people were standing around her husband’s body.

The miscreants had smashed Nayek’s head with something heavy. Police went to the spot and sent the body for an autopsy. The police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder, but suspect that an old rivalry led to the crime.

Police spoke to some of the local people and the victim’s friends to know whether he had fight with anyone in recent past. But they failed to provide any clue. Police pickets were posted in the area to avoid deterioration of the law and order situation in the area.

The police have collected some samples from the spot. The victim’s family members, too, failed to say whether he had any rivalry with anyone. The police would also question the people with whom the victim used to work in a factory in order to find out whether he had got engaged in any quarrel with anyone at his place of work. The police are also trying to know whether he had borrowed money from any person.
