Rival group clash leads to injuries of one local

Two groups of people fought each other in Malda’s Khochkhamar on Thursday night, leading to heavy injuries of a local.

Police said, Enamul Sheikh, a local resident was passing by the road when a splinter of a bomb hit him on his back.

The man was severely injured. He was taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital.

Police said, two rival groups of truck drivers were fighting each other and started hurling bombs. Enamul, a local shop keeper was crossing the road when the splinter hit him.

“The group of Rafikul Mondal and Shafikul Shekh fought over the area domination. We have already arrested three persons in connection with the case. The other accused will also be arrested soon,” said a police officer. 

It should be recalled that two groups of people clashed at Gazole district a few weeks ago.

A huge police force, accompanied by Rapid Action Force reached the spot to control the situation.

The police arrested 20 people from the spot who belonged to both the camps.

Police said that the clash broke out over chopping of an old tree at the village.
