RINL logs record iron and liquid steel output in Aug

The corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, RINL recorded growth of 18 per cent in hot metal, 14 per cent growth in liquid steel and 19 per cent in gross sinter production, best for any month since its inception, a company statement released here said.

During April-August 2014, improvements were registered in techno-economic parameters like blast furnace productivity being up by 36 per cent, total fuel rate by two per cent, specific energy consumption by one per cent, specific water consumption by six per cent and labour productivity by two percent compared to corresponding period last year, it said.

RINL CMD P Madhusudan said that efforts are being made to ramp up the downstream units, and
production is expected to pick up progressively during the coming months.
