Retro comes calling in Lajpat Nagar market

Ever thought that the Swinging 60s might make a comeback? Or that denim jacket you discarded while clearing out the cupboard would be oh-so-chic again?

Like everything in life, what goes around comes around in fashion too. Runways across the globe have been parading retro-glam. So it's time for popular flea markets to stock up on them as well.

This week, we took a tour of the popular Central Market in Lajpat Nagar. Usually known for all things ethnic, we found some decent Western-wear.

We found sizzling polkas, swirling knee-length skirts, colourful midis, quirky hairclips and more at this popular flea market. While the market also houses a number of shops which regulars swear by (especially for ethnic outfits), the hawkers' wares are attractive too. Prepare to haggle, of course, like in any flea market.

The colours were vibrant, complete with retro polkas, flower power and bright accessories. Orange is a huge hit this season.

Along with an abundance of clothes, accessories were some of our top picks. These are cheap and can be matched to suit every kind of outfit.

Simple and quirky hair clips ranging between Rs 30 and Rs 60, complete with flower bands and net detailing caught our eyes. So did hair clutchers with Oriental flower designs.

There was also an interesting mix of accessories like stoles which come for as cheap as Rs 50 and statement neckpieces for as much as Rs 150. With the right eye for details and patience to skim through the myriad collections, one can get essentially everything.
