Retd Navy official’s son poses as IPS officer, arrested for duping

He is just 21 and a science graduate. He had physics as his subject and comes from a well-off reputed family. He also prepared for civil services but his new address is Tihar Jail! Shocked?

Ravikant has an impressive profile on Facebook, his photographs boast of his status and his power. After all, he is seen in an IPS uniform with belt, cap and stars. He also posed with a gun, enough to dodge unsuspecting young ones on FB who could just fall in the trap of the cheat.

He made this fake profile with a purpose. He befriended young boys who aspired to be in paramilitary forces. He shockingly duped 10 young boys of around Rs 19 lakh promising them jobs in CRPF. The poor candidates paid him money to utilise his so-called connections but felt cheated after they got to know Ravikant is no IPS officer and is from Najafgarh in Delhi. Ravikant’s father is retired from the Navy.

“He duped young aspirants by taking around Rs 50,000  to Rs 60,000 and promised them jobs in CRPF. He prepared to be an IPS but failed and came in contact with some men in Chandigarh after which he started this cheating business. We registered a case of cheating and apprehended the accused,” said Surender Kumar, DCP South-west.
