Reminiscing the essence of folklore

Folk songs and folk dance represent the true essence of a state, making it unique from the others.

In order to promote folk, especially Baul music, a colourful ensemble of folk songs and dance of Bengal was presented by a cultural troupe on Friday in the ‘Bharat Parv’ event, which is being organised by the government of India at Red Fort as a part of the Republic Day celebrations.

Prantic Cultural Society, Indirapuram, presented the performance as part of the cultural programme segment of ‘Bharat Parv’.

The programme was supported by the Office of the Resident Commissioner, government of West Bengal. West Bengal tableau, which won the first prize at this year’s Republic Day showcasing ‘Bauls of Bengal’, was displayed at the Red Fort grounds as part of the event along with other Republic Day Parade tableaux. A team of 24 Baul singers from West Bengal also performed at the ‘Bharat Parv’ event on January 30 in the national Capital.
