Reddy takes over as new tri-services chief

Air Marshal PP Reddy on Tuesday took over  as the chief of the integrated defence staff to the chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee. Commissioned as a fighter pilot in the Air Force in June 1977, Reddy is an alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College, the National Defence Academy and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

He is a qualified flying instructor and an experimental test pilot who has flown 3,600 hours on various types of fighter and transport aircraft, including the SU-30 MKI. He has commanded a MiG-27 Squadron and a fighter base in the Kashmir Valley.

The Air Marshal has worked in the plans branch at Air Headquarters and was instrumental in the implementation of SU-30 MKI, IL-78 Flight Refueller Aircraft and MiG-27 upgrade programs. He has also served as the chief test pilot at aircraft and systems testing sstablishment, etc.
