Recruitment to start for vacant posts of work education teachers

State government will recruit work education and physical education teachers for the government aided schools. The state education department source claimed, around 10,000 posts are vacant in which the government will recruit soon.

However, the recruitment will be only from Class V to Class VIII, as the source said. The state government earlier announced the recruitment of teachers for secondary and higher secondary level in government aided schools, throughout the state. The applications were also invited from the job aspirants.

The West Bengal Central School Service Commission (SSC) holds the first State Level Selection Test (SLST) for the recruitment of teachers.

SSC, as the commission is popularly known, earlier released a notification regarding the test. Around 19,000 vacancies of assistant teachers in government-aided secondary and higher secondary schools will be filled though the exam. 

The highest number of vacancies is reportedly for mathematics teachers, followed by biology, English, Chemistry and Bengali. While the vacancies for general subjects added up to 15,947, there are 1,019 vacancies for work education and 1,237 for physical education. The candidates have already started their preparation. It should be recalled that the recruitment of primary teachers through TET is also going on. The recruitment of upper primary level teachers has also been announced by the state government.
