Recruitment of college teachers listed in CSC to start soon

State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee on Tuesday announced the fresh recruitment of college teachers whose name has been listed in the College Service Commission (CSC). They will soon be recruited by the state-run colleges.

“Around 1,784 teachers of 30 different subjects will be recruited soon,” Chatterjee said at his office. The second lot of recruitment of college teachers is also almost ready, the minister added.

On Tuesday, the minister had a meeting with officials of state higher education department. They have discussed about the infrastructure of 30 new colleges. “I asked the officials about the development of college infrastructure, construction of laboratory and some other things. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has instructed every department to review their works accordingly. I have met the higher education department officials on Tuesday. I will soon sit with the officials of primary and school education departments too,” the minister said.

The minister said that the syllabus of engineering subjects is set to change. The state education department has planned to form a committee which will study the matter and report to the minister. However, Chatterjee reaffirmed his stand point about recruitment of retired teachers in the school saying, retired teachers would only be recruited in those places where the dearth of staff teacher is hampering the study.

The minister had also a meeting with St. Xavier’s college authority regarding their university status. “The university bill is being prepared,” the minister said.
