Reckless parking near ceremonial houses cause traffic mess

Amidst the ongoing marriage season, locals in the areas like Chhatarpur, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Mahipalpur, and MG Road are facing traffic chaos with no specific arrangement of parking and traffic management as majority of the farm houses are in these areas.

The traffic police are seen struggling to filter vehicles coming to Delhi from Gurgaon and vice versa.

Confusion among commuters prevail as the vehicles come from the wrong side, while the police personnel are seen filtering vehicles near Mahipalpur area which cause congestion from Mahipalpur to toll plaza and lead to huge traffic jams even during the non-peak hours.

These long-hour jams force the commuters to drive on the wrong side to save their time which creates traffic chaos.

“Travelling is a nightmare for commuters in these areas, commuting on this way gets tough during every marriage season.

Due to the famous Tivoli Garden, Mallu Farm, Khilone Wala farm and scores of other marriage and party venues, the commuters have to get stuck in the traffic snarls for hours. Most of the cars are parked alongside the Chhatarpur-Fatehpur Road,” Surjeet Kumar, a resident of Rajpur Extension Colony near Tivoli Garden.

Regarding the measures, a senior traffic cop said: “Firstly, farmhouses and banquets near the National Highway 8, Chattarpur area and MG Road have been identified and have been instructed to use their own parking space to avoid traffic on the main road. Secondly, additional traffic police force have been deployed and cranes are deployed to tow away vehicles parked on the main road.”
