Real-estate developer found dead in his house

A 34-year-old man, who worked as an executive of a real estate company was found murdered at his rented accommodation in South Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave area on Wednesday afternoon. Police have not ruled the possibility of robbery. No arrests have been made so far. Since the main door of the rented flat was found open by the victim’s colleague, police suspect the role of someone known to the victim behind the murder.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Vishwanath. His colleague, Pradeep Yadav found his body at around 12.30 am in their rented accommodation. Pradeep took Vishwanath, who was lying in a pool of blood to the Safdarjung Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

According to a senior police official, there were injury marks on Vishwanath’s neck as well as on the legs and abdomen. The incident came to light when Vishwanath did not go to his office which is in Noida. When Pradeep entered the flat, he found the main door open with the entire room ransacked. Prima facie, police said that Vishwanath was strangled to death and the accused person may have been on friendly terms with him.

The senior police official added that personal belongings of Vishwanath like his wallet and mobile phone were missing from the spot. Family members of Vishwanath have been informed and the body has been handed over to them after the post-mortem. Police said that the time and cause of death is yet to be ascertained as the reports have not come out yet. They suspect the role of Vishwanath’s room-mate who is missing since the body was found.

A case of murder has been registered under section 302 of the IPC at the Safdarjung police station against unidentified accused person. Police have started investigation and are analysing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects.
