Ration dealer held for illegally selling kerosene in outside market

North 24-Parganas police have arrested a ration dealer on charges of illegally selling kerosene in outside market at a higher price. 

The accused, Debenchandra Das was held by the local villagers for illegally selling kerosene Berunaraynpur village of Nilgunge under Duttapukur police station. The local residents informed the matter to the local police station. After being informed, police reached the spot and held the accused on the basis of the complaint by the villagers. 

The villagers have alleged that there was enough supply of kerosene to the dealer but they weren’t getting it as the accused has been creating an artificial crisis of kerosene. They have noticed the issue for quite some time.

On Monday, they chased the accused ration dealer as they wanted to know from him why they were not getting kerosene despite adequate supply. The accused reportedly failed to provide any satisfactory answer to their questions. He told the customers that there was not enough supply of kerosene. This had infuriated the people and they held the accused and informed the matter to the police.

The local people also alleged that the accused has also been selling kerosene to a local paint factory in the vicinity at a high price and creating a crisis. People staged demonstration in front of the shop. Police brought the situation under control and have been interrogating the accused.
