Ramjas cancels admissions sought on fake documents

Cases of admission in the prestigious Delhi University on the basis of fake documents have once again come to the fore. The matter came to light following the authenticity tests carried out by the forensic scientist on the documents deposited by Ramjas College. The college has since cancelled these admissions.

This forensic test facility was created at Ramjas College after its name was besmirched in a scam of fake admissions a few years back.
VC Misra, a member of the college forensic team, said, ‘The cases came to light during the certification of documents. Around 8 to 10 cases of fake certificates submitted by students in order to gain wrongful admission in various courses was detected.’

He added, ‘Among them there were four to five cases of fake marksheets. The
documents submitted by students failed to show the security features under the ultra violet rays.’
‘The other documents are related to fake documents to gain admission under the reserved category. Authenticity of the caste certificates could not be established in these cases,’ said Misra.

When contacted for comments, JM Khurana, Dean of Students’ Welfare, said, ‘It is good that colleges are taking recourse to advanced technology for the certification of the documents. I demand strict action against those students and want that colleges should lodge FIRs against them.’
