Ramakrishna Mission varsity to get ‘special heritage university’ status

Union HRD minister Smriti Irani on Friday declared that the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University (RKMVU) would be accorded the status of a ‘special heritage university.’  Irani, who attended the ninth convocation of the RKMVU, said the Union HRD ministry would give the university the status of a ‘special heritage university’.

Irani said Swami Vivekananda was in favour of science education and research and wanted to set up such an institute. The Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University was established to actualise Swami Vivekananda’s fundamental educational idea of imparting character-building education to students by combining the best of the East and the West.
