Rakhi Birla jumps the queue at Mangolpuri poll booth

Voters outside the Manglopuri polling booth were visibly annoyed at Rakhi Birla, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) candidate, contesting from the North-West Delhi, because she jumped the queue to cast her vote. Rakhi, who arrived at the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Mangolpuri, at 9 am to cast her vote allegedly ignored the queue comprising of several women and old ladies and directly went inside the booth to cast her vote.

The people standing in the queue later protested and said that such an elitist behaviour was not expected from an Aam Aadmi Party member. When questioned on the voter’s reaction Birla explained that the people in the queue had asked her to go ahead.

Manoj Kumar Pathak, a voter from Mangolpuri who was standing in the queue, while Birla allegedly barged in said, ‘My wife had waited a long time in the queue and when it was her turn to vote finally, Rakhi just came, ignored her and went inside the polling booth. We had not expected this from her, even Congress leaders like Rahul and Sonia Gandhi wait in long queues for their turn. Why couldn’t she do the same?’

However, Manmohan, another voter, commented on behalf of his mother who is 85 years old and was standing in the same queue.  He said, ‘I was a little shocked when I saw the Aam Aadmi Party candidate directly going into the booth to vote without acknowledging the people standing behind her. There were many old ladies including my mother who were standing patiently waiting for their turn’.
