Rain lashes city on Eid, MeT predicts wet Sunday

Light rain on Saturday brought relief to residents of the national Capital as the maximum temperature settled down at 33.7 degrees Celsius, average for the season. The Met office forecast similar weather Sunday.

“The sky will remain cloudy on Sunday with light rain or thundershowers in many areas of the city,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department said.

The weatherman added: “The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to hover around 34 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.”

The city received 1.7 mm rain till 5.30pm on Saturday. Waterlogging  disrupted traffic in South Delhi’s Mehrauli and New Friends Colony, West Delhi’s Subhash Nagar, Kohat Enclave and Rohini. 

Meanwhile, two Air India aircrafts, including a Boeing-787 Dreamliner, were grounded after their engines were hit by an aerobridge and a container, both pushed by strong winds, at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The engines of the aircraft have been damaged and both have been grounded, they said.
