Railway strike deferred to June 11

In the wake of Assembly elections in five states, All India Railway Federation (AIRF) has deferred the proposed railway strike from April 11 to June 11. As the Model code of conduct is in force in five states due to the elections, there are lot of restrictions involving permission from District Collectors for carrying out campaigns for the strike, AIRF General Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra said. AIRF had earlier called for an idenfinite strike from April 11 demanding revision of new pension scheme, removing anomalies in the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations and filling up of large number of vacant posts in Railways, among others.
