Rail min seeks investment under CSR for improving amenities

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday sought investment from business houses under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to improve the passenger amenities being provided by the national transporter.

There is a need for capacity enhancement of railway infrastructure and improvement in passenger amenities, Prabhu said after launching three new trains through remote control here.

“Investment under CSR can be made in the passenger amenities area to provide better facilities to
customers,” he said, adding that railways will soon concretise proposals in this regard.

Railways needs huge investment to improve passenger amenities.

The trains flagged off by Prabhu on Tuesday were the Mumbai- Gorakhpur Jansadharan Express, Pune-Lucknow Express (weekly) and the Bidar-Mumbai Express (weekly). All three trains are part of the Budget announcements.

The Railway Minister has now flagged off a total of 11 trains since on Monday. All trains promised in the last Rail Budget will be flagged off before the next one this year.
