Rahul warns of strict action against detractors

All India Congress Committee Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday concluded his two-day tour of Odisha by addressing party workers at Cuttack. Coming down heavily on those who were trying to disrupt party unity, Gandhi exhorted party workers to work united to bring Congress back in power in the state.

Gandhi offered a 3-point solution to improve party’s prospects in the state, i.e. offering tickets in time, bringing in unity, and empowering grassroots leaders.

Gandhi said Congress has a healthy vote share of about 30% in the state and it requires discipline and unity to ensure a victory for the party in the next elections. After meeting officials of the party in the state for two days, Gandhi said he was aware that a few individuals are unnecessarily trying to create indiscipline and disunity weakening the party and that he would take ‘strict disciplinary action’ against such disruptive activities. Gandhi lauded the high-potential of the state Congress leaders and said it was important to harness their strengths.
