Rahul sniggers at PM Modi’s Rs 10 lakh suit

Gandhi said that the designer suit which Modi wore during US President Barack Obama’s recent visit came with a Rs 10 lakh price tag.

Addressing an election rally at Shastri park near Seelampur  in North-East Delhi, Gandhi also accused the Modi government of succumbing to US pressure in resolving the nuclear deal logjam and claimed that in case of any accident in a nuclear plant, US companies would not have to pay compensation. This was Gandhi’s second election programme in the city. The first being in Kalkaji area of South Delhi.

“He (Modi) had said I will bring back crores of black money, will deposit 15 lakh in every account. I want to ask you, did you get Rs 15 lakh? You didn’t get anything but Modi wore a suit worth Rs 10 lakh during Obama’s visit,” he said.

The pricey name embossed Jodhpuri suit Modi wore on Sunday during his talks with Obama in Hyderabad House set tongues wagging.

The Congress Vice President also took a dig at Modi on his Swachh Bharat Abhiyan saying the Prime
Minister had not been able to tackle problems like inflation and employment.

“When you asked for employment and demanded that inflation be brought down, he gave you a broom saying clean India and went to US and Australia.”

In a veiled attack on AAP CM candidate Arvind Kejriwal and BJP’s nominee Kiran Bedi, he said the anti-graft movement led by Anna Hazare had people who are now in both AAP and BJP who “used to meet in Lodhi Gardens during  morning walks and plot against the Congress”.

Several senior leader including Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh, ex-MP J P Agarwal, former union ministers PC Chacko and Ajay Maken, party MLAs Mateen Ahmed, Haroon Yusuf and Hassan Ahmad, former MLAs Veer Singh Dhingan( Seemapuri), Vipin Sharma (Rohtash Nagar) and Amrish Gautam(Kondli) shared the dais with Gandhi.
