Rahul Sinha quizzed by Special Branch sleuths

Senior officials of the Special Branch (SB) of the city police on Wednesday questioned Rahul Sinha for nearly three hours in connection with his allegation where he accused two police personnel for attempting to bribe him.

The senior officials have recorded the statement of Sinha. At around 12 pm Sinha had entered the SB’s office at the Lord Sinha Road on Wednesday. It was learnt that Sinha had narrated the entire incident to the police officers as how the two police personnel attempted to give him bribe inside the BJP’s party office. On Tuesday, Sinha was requested to appear before the investigating officers.

The officers who have been investigating the incident had already interrogated the two police personnel separately. It was learnt that the investigating officers had made Sinha and the two accused sit side by side and interrogated them for long time. The police will verify their documents. During the interrogations, the officers recorded their statements. Joint CP (Intelligence) Pallab Kanti Ghosh was also there at the time of interrogation.

Sinha, however, said that police investigation will not solve the issue as there are some top level officers involved in the matter. The names of those who had engaged the two persons must come to light. Departmental action will not do and a CBI inquiry can solve the issue.

The two police personnel Subhasis Roy Chowdhury, an ASI with SB and a constable Aminul Rahaman were suspended after Sinha accused them for trying to bribe him. Sinha claimed that last week the two had come to his office and tried to give him bribe. Deputy Commissioner of central division also interrogated the two accused immediately after the accident.
