Rahul returns from foreign vacation, to meet leaders

Rahul Gandhi finally returned on late Monday night from his holiday abroad amidst continued criticism of his absence in the midst of big ongoing political activity and elections to 5 state assemblies announced.

A number of important decisions have been on hold for some days now. Nominations to the Punjab Assembly polls begins and the Congress has yet to finalise 40 seats with the CEC meeting on Tuesday to look at the remaining seats.

Former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu is waiting in the wings. He only acts according to astrological predictions and is known to be highly superstitious. Popular wisdom says he will joing the Congress on January 13.

But it is learnt that the highly erratic Sidhu is now bargaining for more tickets for his supporters and his wife and wants the Amritsar lok sabha seat for himself. The congress has promised him Amritsar (East) for him to contest and a deputy chief minister’s post in the event that the congress party comes to power in the state. Sources say that the party cannot afford to give the number of seats Sidhu is asking for since it could mean large scale rebellion.

Sidhu quit the Rajya Sabha seat given to him by the BJP, he then negotiated with the AAP party and finally his wife joined the Congress with the promise that Sidhu would soon follow suit. So far he has not joined the Congress party.
