Rahul Gandhi urges people to vote for Congress

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Monday made a scathing attack on Mamata Banerjee and Narendra Modi.

He was addressing a rally in support of party candidates on Monday afternoon.

Gandhi said no development had been carried out in the state and during the past five years Mamata Banerjee had supported corruption. “She has backed chit funds and supported corruption and no development has been carried out in Bengal,” he said.

He said Congress had given Rs 440 crore to set up water supply scheme. But the money had never been utilised. There are no industries in the state and youth are not getting jobs. “Trinamool Congress government has failed to give jobs and industrialists do not show any interest to invest in Bengal because of poor law and order situation. Even a women chief minister has failed to give security to women,” he remarked.

Criticising Modi he said the start up India project was a big hoax. “The BJP government has made the poor poorer and instead of addressing the real problem of people the Prime Minister is making foreign trips,” he said.

Alleging TMC- BJP tie, he said the Centre was giving tacit support to TMC and had deliberately slowed down the investigation process in multi crore Sarada scam. “Both the Centre and state government are making false promises to people,” he said. He urged people to vote for Congress candidates for all round development of the state. “If voted to power there will be schemes for the poor and the unemployed and the state will progress,” he said.
