Rahul attacks his own govt over Adarsh report

At the press briefing following his meeting with the chief ministers of Congress-ruled states, Gandhi chose to ‘debunk’ Maharashtra government’s decision to reject judicial commission’s report on Adarsh scam. Gandhi said he did not agree with the move which has come for severe criticism.

This is the second time that Gandhi has rejected the government’s decision. Earlier, he had in September this year rejected the union cabinet’s decision on ordinance giving reprieve to lawmakers convicted in criminal cases saying it was ‘complete nonsense’ and should be ‘torn and thrown away’. Soon after Gandhi’s statement, Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Singh Chavan was asked by reporters for his reaction. He said he will consult his (cabinet) colleagues on the issue.

‘There is no question of protecting anybody,’ said Gandhi. ‘I only see parties talking of corruption, but no systematic action. It is fashionable to only talk and not work,’ he added.

Gandhi’s remarks came in after union minister of state for information and communications Milind Deora had demanded a fair probe into the Adarsh scam. ‘If the Adarsh Committee report raises questions, we should investigate, answer them & not be hush!’ Deora had tweeted.

The Maharashtra government on 20 December rejected the report of the judicial commission of inquiry on the Adarsh scam which was tabled in the legislative assembly.
